Are you looking to get a new business up and running? If so, Congrats! Taking this step is a big decision and we commend you on taking the leap of faith.
Today will consider the importance of looking before you leap when employing a web design agency, as well as how a website can influence the type of patrons/clients you’ll attract.
There exists a large number of people who are truly influenced by first impressions. After all, it is a little hard NOT to judge a book by it’s cover. So this puts a lot of emphasis on the effectiveness of your marketing strategies (ie. just how great your website really is).
Websites are a cheap and effective way to advertise and create an ongoing digital presence for your business, but some are cheaper than others. Why is this so? Well, similar to many industries – there are plenty of cowboys out there who won’t mind taking you for a ride (so to speak).
Yes, choosing a web designer can become tedious, but unlike other professions out there, the results will be pretty obvious to you before you’ve parted with any cash. You as a consumer have the power to research who’s out there and what designs they’ve produced for different companies before. Super easy decision … some nice guys like us might even invite you in for a coffee and a round on the XBox!
The importance of finding a great web designer in Brisbane who actually considers client and audience needs when creating a design is the one you’ll want to go with.
We couldn’t tell you the number of times we hear of people being approached by el cheapo IT/digital agencies who are offering to unload their web design services for $500 – $1500. Cheap … yes. Reliable … probably not. Functional … very questionable. Aesthetically pleasing … almost never.
These agencies have the ability to produce sites for this price as they are merely using and reusing already purchased template designs (ie. you’re ripping yourself off). If you use these agencies, you will no doubt end up with the same website as Joe Bloggs down the road – or more importantly, several Joe Bloggs’. These designs are pumped out quickly, often missing fundamental elements needed for a successful website.
Lets take a look at an example.
You are a professional real estate agency looking to get a website designed and developed. You do a Google search and come across a listing that claims to offer websites ranging between $500 – $1500. You think to your self “WOW” that’s great.
You give them a call and they welcome your business, offering you a package that simply can’t refuse. $1000 for a website, hosting and a design (including a few different colour schemes). Meanwhile, another design agency tried to charge you $4,500 for the same deal!
So are you getting the same value from both of these agencies?
I think not..
Please people, don’t be fooled. 9/10 times the more expensive option is more expensive for a reason.
1. You will get an exclusively designed website that no one else will have. That’s right – Joe Blogs down the road selling wooden ash trays will not have an identical site to you
2. Your site will be built using the latest, most up to date methods. This ensures that your website will work in all browsers, and function perfectly
3. Support that is second to none. You will be treated as priority, not just another client in a long queue waiting to be heard. It helps when your designer is local – having a question answered is only a call away.
4. SEO “Search Engine Optimisation”. Get the professionals that know what they are doing to build into your site better capabilities for showing up on search engines, such as Google, Yahoo, Bing and more. What’s the point of owning and paying for a web site if no one can find it?
So don’t be fooled people, the costs are there for a reason. You are not being ripped off by going with the more expensive option. Just hear them out, have a good look at their design (and others) and shop your little heart out!

Hehe. Grrr, templates. There’s nothing I hate more than templates. Yeah, expensive sites are expensive for a reason, but still – some agencies just demand ridiculus amounts of money.
Good blog – I like it!

This is true. Small Business needs to realise that the cost of good development is much less in the long run. But at times trying to explain this can be a struggle.
